Wordle 6 ~ Wallace Stevens

School took me for a ride this week, and I did not have the time I needed to visit all of your work and select words.  My apologies for that.  My favorite poem by Wallace Stevens is Domination of Black.  I took this week's wordle words from that piece.  You decide if you should read his piece before or after your own.  My fear was that it would infect my own writing, as Domination of Black is a piece I read aloud every year to my students, and to myself when the need strikes.  Someone told me that it was also Wallace Stevens's favorite poem that he wrote.  I've never verified that, though.

What is it about other people's pieces that keep us coming back to them?  This poem has been in my life for over twenty years.  I love it, so that's where I went for the words.  My piece is darker than I intended, and the angels from last week's wordle showed up in it again.  Go figure.  Angels can be pesky once you notice them.

Have fun this week,  I'm anticipating great work.

Thanks for the inspiring words!

Some are having commenting on Blogger, but I have found changing the settings for comment to pop-up window helps.

oops... I meant to say having 'problems'...

Was a bit confused by "windplanets" so used it for line break. Wanted a softer place than the words suggested.

Fun to try this Sunday morning! I tried using only a few more words than the wordle contained. Here it is http://ponderingspeggy.blogspot.com/2011/05/poem-fallen.html

Thanks, as always, Brenda!! Of all the prompts I go to, this is my favorite. Even though today's words challenged me slightly! ;)

Here's my attempt: LEGACY.

Now...to go read those by everyone else. :)

I have been wanting to write a global warming poem for ages, so thank you! This wordle was perfect.

I managed to finish something on this in the midst of the holiday weekend: This calm is brutality. I hope you had a chance to catch your breath.

Why are some of the addresses coming up with link in place and some not? Anyone know? As it is, my name takes people to the poem.

Brenda, I wrote to last week's prompt and plumb forgot to post it, so I'm doing yours EARLY! Love the words; now (and only now) I will check out Wallace Stevens' work, as well as our other fellow poets. Thanks for keeping this project going. Peace, Amy

I don't seem to be able to open the comments on Beyond the Bozone. I've tried several times now.

Dave, I'm not sure what's up with that...if it's a blogger issue, or something I've done. Know that I do plan to add a different post linking system soon. Life is too busy this week, as I'm wrapping up a school year.

One thing you could try is cutting and pasting the links into your address bar, or visit the whirling blogs in the sidebar. Most of the blogs listed there have participated this week.

Don't know if that helps. But I will try something new after this whirlwind week is complete.

I've actually had the same problem with commenting on Beyond the Bozone, but the way I get around it is I right click the "Comment" link and choose the option to open it in a new tab.

That's a great tip, Francis. I have troubles on others' blogger sites, too. Maybe that will work for me. Thanks. I'll mention in it in next Sunday's post.

Hopefully I'll get Mr. Linky going next week.

I was so late responding to last week's wordle, that I made sure to get to this one as quickly as I could: Fire Dominates (WordPress) or Fire Dominates (Blogspot). Looking forward to reading.

Ugh. I am still working on the one from LAST week. In the meantime, my struggle inspired a poem about struggling to write a poem. :) So, while it doesn't use any of the words from this week's wordle (at least not intentionally), I thought I would share anyway. Hope that is okay. I will try again next week!

Once again, I think I'm the last one to post something ;-)

Something just can't rush, especially when the poem is being stubborn B!!!

Enjoy!
